Islamabad: A representative of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Dr Dr. Luay Shabaneh on Thursday called on Federal Minister for health Syed Mustafa Kamal at his ministry office in Islamabad.
A topics of family planning , child and mother health, increasing proportion of population came under discussion between the representative and the health Minister.
Syed Mustafa Kamal lauded Pakistan long partenership with the UNFPA.
The Minister said that a strategic cooperation will be strengthened with the UNFPA to get a solid results in population and the fertility rates in Pakistan.
He said that the rapid increase in the population is hurdle in the way of development of the country.
Population of the country is increasing so much at fast pace that currently Pakistan on fivth position with respect to its population around the world but the country will become fourth in the world owing to its population just after a hiatus of five years in 2030.
The UNFPA representative lauded the Minister vision of inclusion of population issue part of the country policies.
Besides that he reaffirmed that the his organization will continue extend its full support to the health ministry.
