Urgent Arab Summit on Gaza situation to be held in Egypt

CAIRO: An immediate Arab summit on the Gaza situation will be hosted by Egypt on February 27.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision to hold the summit was made after high-level consultations with Arab countries, including Palestine.

Meanwhile, following U.S. President Trump’s statements about the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has traveled to the United States. During his visit, the Egyptian foreign minister will meet with the U.S. administration and Senate members.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the purpose of the visit is to further enhance relations and strategic partnerships between the two countries. The regional situation will also be discussed during the visit.

It is worth noting that recently President Trump announced plans for the U.S. to take control of Gaza. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. would take control of the Gaza Strip, saying, “We will own it.” The aim was to bring stability to the region and create thousands of jobs. He added that he envisions a long-term ownership position in Gaza, where the U.S. would help develop the area, provide jobs for the local people, and settle civilians.

Trump’s announcement was met with opposition from the United Nations and many countries around the world, who opposed the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and emphasized the need for a two-state solution.
