US acknowledges pakistan diplomatic engagement in efforts stabilising Middle East

WEBDESK: The United States has acknowledged Pakistan for its diplomatic engagement in efforts aimed at stabilising the Middle East, as senior leaders from both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic cooperation.

During a high-level meeting in Washington, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The discussions focused on regional peace initiatives, counterterrorism collaboration, and expanding cooperation in critical minerals development.

In a message shared on social media, Rubio described the meeting as constructive, noting Pakistan’s participation in the recently formed Board of Peace  an international forum proposed by US President Donald Trump to promote dialogue and conflict resolution. He emphasised the importance of sustained engagement between the two countries, particularly in areas of economic development and security.

Responding separately, Dar said Pakistan values its longstanding partnership with the United States and remains committed to strengthening bilateral ties. He highlighted discussions on boosting trade, enhancing joint counterterrorism efforts, and promoting stability in conflict-affected regions.

The inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace brought together several global leaders to deliberate on pathways toward lasting peace in Gaza and other regions experiencing unrest. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Islamabad’s support for peaceful resolution of conflicts and underscored the need for coordinated international action.

President Trump, speaking at the event, praised Pakistan’s leadership and described the country as an important partner in advancing regional stability. The meeting also provided an opportunity for informal exchanges between leaders, signalling renewed diplomatic momentum.

On the sidelines of the event, Shehbaz met with leaders from Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Indonesia to discuss regional cooperation and global challenges. Pakistani officials described the engagements as positive, portraying the country’s participation as a reflection of its active diplomatic outreach.

Observers note that the renewed dialogue between Washington and Islamabad signals a broader effort to recalibrate ties, with economic cooperation and shared security priorities forming the cornerstone of the evolving relationship.
