TEHRAN: The United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran’s oil infrastructure for the first time since the outbreak of the conflict, targeting fuel storage facilities late at night.
The strikes reportedly hit an oil depot located near the main refinery in southern Tehran. Another fuel storage site in northwestern parts of the capital was also targeted, where large flames and thick smoke were seen rising from a distance.
Local reports further indicated that another strike occurred in the Shahran area of the capital.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the airstrikes were carried out based on intelligence information and targeted several fuel storage complexes used by the Iranian military.
Israeli military officials claimed that the facilities were part of infrastructure used to support military operations and supply fuel to defense institutions.
The Israeli military described the attacks as a significant step in its operations against Iran’s military infrastructure, stating that the campaign would continue in order to weaken Iran’s capabilities and eliminate potential threats to Israel.
