TEHRAN: Fresh airstrikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel have targeted Iranian naval installations in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, with claims emerging that Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed.
Despite these reports, Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed the death of the senior military figure.
Iranian state media indicated that the strikes also impacted civilian zones, with reports of a residential building being destroyed. Additional explosions and suspected attacks were also reported in South Khorasan.
Officials in Tehran claim that the death toll from recent US-Israeli operations has climbed to 1,937. However, these figures have yet to be independently verified.
The situation highlights rising regional tensions, as military exchanges and aerial activity continue across different parts of Iran.
