WEB DESK: The United State of America has launched military action against Venezuela, President Donald Trump claiming that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, had been taken into custody.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said US forces conducted a “major military operation” targeting Venezuela and confirmed that Maduro and Flores were captured and removed from the country. He added that he would address the situation during a press conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. local time (1600 GMT) at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
Earlier in the day, US media reported multiple strikes hitting Caracas, the Venezuelan capital. Outlets such as CBS News and Fox News, citing unnamed officials from the Trump administration, said the US military was responsible for the attacks. According to CBS News, the operation was authorized directly by President Trump.
