US missile strike on Syria: Oil, gold soars, stock markets slump

The price of oil in the international market has soared by about $1 a barrel after the US missile strike of airbase in Syria.

The news of the strike sent Brent crude futures , the international benchmark for oil, soaring around $1 per barrel, or almost 2 percent, to $55.78 per barrel. The US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures also climbed around $1 per barrel, or almost 2 percent, to $52.64 a barrel.

The gold price has also jumped but stock markets and the US dollar have slumped.
