US relations with Saudi Arabia is strong: State Department

WASHINGTON: US States Department’s Press Office Director Elizabeth Trudeau said that US-Saudi relations were strong enough despite the bill passed  by Congress allowing  9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia.

She said in the press briefing at Washing DC that they will continue to work with the Saudi Government as they had global and regional shared interests. She said, ‘US continue to have dialogue with the Saudis on this, but our relationship is strong.’ Trudeau said that US President Barack Obama will veto the Congress’s bill and will not put relations with Saudi Arabia at risk.

To a question, Trudeau said that they were disappointed by India’s failure in getting Nuclear Supplier Group membership and said that US will continue support India in its bid for NSG membership. She said that India will soon become member of NSG.

Trudeau said, ‘We have been consistently clear that we will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state, nor will we accept North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons.’
