Lahore: Two people have died in Lahore Meo Hospital owing to using substandard injection while 18 people received reaction from the injection out of which four people are in critical condition.
All the patients who effected from the injection were hospitalized in the chest ward of the hospital.
The hospital management apprised that the patients got reaction from the use of Ceftrixone injection.
The dead includes Noreen Bibi from Garhi Shahoo and Dolat Khan of Shangla. Whereas four patients are still in critical condition.
Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood has constituted a committee for probing the incident.
The committee will submit its report today.
Professor of medicine Dr Israr is the convener of the committee while additional secretary technical Dr Hafiz Waseem is the member of the committee.
Provincial health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has confirmed the deaths owing to reaction of the injection.
The Minister said that an action will be taken against responsible persons for the incident.
On the other hand, Police have deployed its contingent outside the chest ward before the expected protest of the people.
