Use of Word “Selected” Banned in NA

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker of National Assembly (NA) Qasim Suri has imposed a ban in the assembly using the word “selected” for the Prime Minister Imran Khan and other members of the assembly

The NA session called of budget debate continued today with a less number of members as only 20 MNA’s from opposition and treasury benched attended the session.

Taking part in the budget debate Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the federal government is entirely responsible for failure in the collection of taxes adding that economic growth is the primary target of any budget.

Ahsan said, “The creation of jobs is an important aspect of any country’s economic plan while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led federal government has failed to achieve any of the targets.”

“The recently proposed budget was formulated to please International Monetary Fund (IMF),” he added.

“The PTI-led federal government is not a recently married bride anymore they have to answer for their failures,” he further added.

“They sold buffaloes and cars for making people fool,” said Ahsan.

“We are ready to answer for the loans taken in the past ten years but the federal government should answer too where did they spent the loans taken in their past 10 months,” added former interior minister.

“The government should realize that they are no more on a container of the D-Chowk,” further added Iqbal.

“Country’s stock exchange is now among the worst in South Asia because of the failed policies of the government, he concluded.

Ex-premier Raja Pervez Ashraf said that “the government is busy in criticizing the opposition instead of talking of structure of the budget which it presented.”

He said that “the government is presenting excuse to do anything by criticizing the performance of previous governments”.

Ashraf said that it’s the government right to criticize but it has to avoid insulting someone and disrespect of the parliament.”

Khusro Bakhtiar said that the previous government kept stabilized dollar value through artificial way while it amicably negotiated with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and allocated subsidiary in power sector for poor of the society.

Energy Minister Umar Ayub raising a point of order said that we wanted to move privilege motion from the treasury benches as the government privilege hurt as the PM is called selected. On which, PPP lawmaker Rafi Ullah protested in the session.

Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri said that all members of the parliament reached here by getting votes and imposed a ban on the use of the word “selected” in the NA.
