Veteran actor Nana Patekar dies, passes away from cardiac arrest in Goa

WEB DESK: Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has passed away. According to information, he was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula, Goa. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Initial investigation has cited a severe cardiac arrest as the cause of his death.

According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, after he was brought to the hospital, a team of doctors tried to revive him through CPR for around 45 minutes, but there was no response. Nana Patekar was declared dead at 5:20 am.

Nana Patekar was born on 1 January 1951. His real name was Vishwanath Patekar. He came from a Marathi family. His father, Gajanan (Dinkar) Patekar, was a textile painter and businessman. .

Nana Patekar’s wife, Neelakanti Patekar, is a former bank officer, actress and theatre professional. The two married in 1978. They later separated, although they were never officially divorced. Their son Malhar Patekar is a filmmaker and runs Nana Saheb Production House. Their other son, Durvasa Patekar, died of an illness at the age of two.

Nana Patekar studied for three years at Samarth Vidyalaya in Dadar West, Mumbai. He then earned a diploma in commercial art from Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art in Mumbai.

Before entering full-time acting, he worked as a commercial artist. In his early days, to make a living, he painted film posters and even zebra crossings. He later made acting his career and established a distinct identity among Bollywood’s veteran actors.

Following news of his death in Goa, a wave of grief has swept through his fans and the film industry.
