Over the years, both his devotional and non-devotional verses were frequently recited at religious gatherings and literary events. He was also appreciated for his light-hearted and humorous poetry.
Funeral prayers will be offered after Zuhr at Jamia Ashrafia, where family members, students, fellow poets and members of the literary community are expected to gather to pay their respects.
Expressing grief over his passing, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), described Gilani as a distinguished poet whose devotional work touched many lives. He said the late poet shared close ties with his family and offered prayers for his forgiveness and eternal peace.
