Virat Kohli wins the show with ton as India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets

Pune: India kept on its winning trend in ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 as it defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in 42nd over here in Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday.

Virat Kohli declared player of the match over his brilliant century off 97 balls with six fours and four sixes with an excellent strike rate of 106. 18 while he remained unbeaten.

Shubman Gill scored half century while he made 55 runs. Indian skipper Rohat Sharma also performed well as he made 48 runs off 40 balls with seven fours and two sixes with a disastrous strike rate of 120.

KL Rahul scored valuable 34 runs.

On Bangladesh side, Mehidy Hasan Mirza bagged two wickets while Hasan Mahmud got one.

Bangladesh have set a 257 runs target to India playing first after winning the toss here at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

First wicket good partnership between Tanzid Hassan and Litton Das have given a solid ground for the team as the both scored half centuries.

Tanzid Hasan smashed 51 runs off 43 balls with a disastrous strike rate of 118.60 which included five fours and three sixes while Litton Das scored 66 runs off 82 balls with seven fours.

But Bangladesh middle batsmen could not perform well as three batters Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehdi Hasan Miraz and Towhid Hridoy bowled out on a abysmal scores of 8, 3 and 16 respectively.

Whereas fifth wicket partnership between Mushifq ur Rehman and Mahmudullah did good efforts and made 41 runs.

Mushifq ur Rehman was prominent with 38 runs while Mahmudullah made a good score of 46 runs.

From Indian side, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja begged two wickets each whereas Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav picked one wicket each.
