Waqaruddin Syed, former NCCIA director general, placed under suspension

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially suspended Waqaruddin Syed, the former Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), effective immediately. This move was announced through an official notification issued by the Establishment Division on Wednesday.

According to the notification, Waqaruddin Syed, a Grade-20 officer serving in the Police Service of Pakistan, has been placed on suspension for an initial period of 120 days, under the provisions of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020. The suspension will remain in effect until further orders.

The decision, which was implemented immediately, is part of ongoing administrative and disciplinary investigations, the Establishment Division stated.

It is noteworthy that Waqaruddin Syed was relieved of his duties as Director General, NCCIA, on October 28, 2025, amid multiple allegations. Since his removal, he has been awaiting a new posting within the Establishment Division.
