KARACHI: A 10-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a water tanker in the Gulberg area of Karachi.
According to rescue sources, the boy was filling water from a stationary tanker without informing anyone, when the driver reversed the tanker and the boy got trapped underneath.
After the incident, people present at the scene started throwing stones and broke the tanker’s windows.
The police arrested the tanker driver and seized the tanker. The deceased boy has been identified as Saima.
Earlier, late at night, two people were killed and one injured in a collision between a dumper and a trailer in Karachi.
In the Malir Court area of Karachi, a collision with a trailer killed one person and injured another.
According to the police, the deceased motorcyclist has been identified as Amir, and the injured person as Sajid. After the accident, the driver of the trailer fled, leaving the vehicle behind.
The family members stated that the deceased Amir was the brother-in-law of the injured Sajid, and they were on motorcycles, dropping off a cousin at the Cantt Station and were returning to Quaidabad when the fast-moving trailer hit their motorcycle.
The deceased Amir was born deaf and mute and had gotten married a few months ago.
Meanwhile, in another accident near Sharae Faisal Karasar, Muhammad Shakir, who was injured in an accident, passed away during treatment. Shakir had collided with the back of a dumper while riding his motorcycle.
According to the police, the family members took the body from Jinnah Hospital without any formal procedures.
It is worth noting that in the first two months of this year, 119 people have died in traffic accidents in Karachi. Among the deceased, 87 were men, 16 were women, 12 were boys, and 4 were girls.
