We don’t accept excuses of economic problems, weather for delaying elections: Nayyer Bukhari

Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) secretary general come down hard on speculations of delaying elections saying the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has a responsibility to hold general elections through the caretaker government within 90 days.

Holding a presser in Islamabad along with local office bearers of People’s lawyers forum , the PPP general secretary said that that if an elections were not held then the ECP will be answereable to the Supreme Court (SC).

We don’t accept excuses like economic problems and weather conditions.

Elaborating further he said that weather can’t stop holding of elections where weather conditions may be bad, the ECP should provide facilities for ensuring the holding of the elections.

He said that our leadership at the outset of the interim government has demanded to hold elections within 90 days.

Nayyer Bukhari said that we don’t want that the caretaker ministers carry out our decisions adding that elected representatives will decide about our country and people.

On a query he said that Nawaz Sharif is a citizen of Pakistan and he should return to country facing cases against him.

Moreover, he claimed that the PPP will form the government at federal level.
