ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued a helpful advisory guiding users on how to recover hacked WhatsApp accounts and improve digital safety.
The authority reassured users not to panic if their account is compromised and instead act quickly using simple recovery steps. It advised uninstalling and reinstalling the app, then logging back in with the registered mobile number. Access can usually be restored by entering the verification code received via SMS.
To prevent future breaches, PTA strongly recommends enabling two-step verification, calling it one of the most effective ways to block unauthorized access.
Users are also urged to stay cautious of suspicious links, unknown files, and phishing attempts common tactics used by hackers. Additional safety measures include updating passwords, running antivirus scans, and keeping an eye out for unusual account activity.
For unresolved issues, users should promptly reach out to WhatsApp’s support team. PTA emphasized that following these steps not only helps regain control of hacked accounts but also strengthens overall protection of personal data and privacy.
