Wifaq ul Madaris strongly denounces suicide bombing at Tarlai mosque

ISLAMABAD: Wifaq ul Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan has vehemently condemned the suicide bombing that struck a mosque in Islamabad’s Tarlai area, branding the attack as barbaric and utterly inhuman.

The deadly explosion occurred inside a mosque in Tarlai Kalan on Friday, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 33 worshippers, while dozens more sustained injuries.

In an official statement, senior leadership of Wifaq ul Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan  including President Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Senior Vice President Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq, Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari, along with other prominent scholars expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and termed the assault on the imambargah as reprehensible.

The religious body emphasized that Islam strictly forbids the killing of innocent people and the spilling of blood, stressing that those who attack mosques, imambargahs, and religious institutions cannot be regarded as human. The statement warned that such acts of violence are deliberately aimed at destabilizing Pakistan and plunging the country into turmoil.

The leadership called on authorities to uncover the full network behind the attack and ensure those responsible are punished decisively. They also urged the government to implement robust and comprehensive security measures for mosques, imambargahs, and religious seminaries nationwide.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that law enforcement agencies have apprehended all suspects linked to the Tarlai mosque bombing, including the alleged Afghan national believed to be the mastermind with ties to the banned terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS).

Addressing the media in Islamabad, the minister said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out operations in Nowshera and Peshawar, arresting four facilitators. He revealed that one security personnel lost his life and several others were wounded during the raids.

Naqvi further asserted that the attack was orchestrated by ISIS operatives operating from Afghanistan with foreign support. He added that investigators traced the suspects through the bomber’s cross-border movements, confirming that both the planning and training took place outside Pakistan.
