Woman fatally struck by stray bullet outside JPMC in Karachi

KARACHI: A woman lost her life after being struck by a stray bullet outside the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Saturday, according to local authorities.

The tragic incident occurred near the gynecology ward, where the victim, identified as Fahmida from Malir, had been visiting her daughter. While walking near the ward, she was hit in the chest by a bullet reportedly fired during an exchange between unidentified gunmen outside the hospital.

Emergency responders immediately transferred Fahmida to the hospital’s emergency unit, but she could not survive the injury.

Police stated that two unknown individuals were involved in a gunfight outside the hospital. During the confrontation, stray bullets hit Fahmida and another bystander, Abdul Razzaq a laborer en route to a nearby tea stall. Razzaq sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.

The suspects fled the area following the incident. Law enforcement has registered a case at the Saddar Police Station under sections related to murder and attempted murder. An investigation is currently underway to apprehend those responsible.
