Woman killed, husband, three children injured in Karachi truck crash

KARACHI: A woman lost her life while her husband and three children were injured after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle near Al Asif Square on Karachi’s Super Highway on Thursday, police said.

According to police, the family was on their way to a picnic when the truck allegedly struck their motorcycle from behind. The impact threw the family onto the road, and the woman, identified as 30-year-old Sana, was crushed under the truck and died at the scene.

Her husband said they were travelling at a normal speed when the truck hit them without warning. He expressed grief over losing his wife, saying he now faces the challenge of raising their children alone.

Their son, Muhammad Rohan, said he continues to see his mother in his dreams.

Police arrested the truck driver, seized the vehicle and registered a case. An investigation is underway.

The incident adds to a growing number of fatal crashes involving heavy vehicles in Karachi. On July 1, two more people, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed in separate truck-related accidents in North Karachi and Korangi.

Official data shows that between January 1 and April 15, 2026, at least 295 people were killed and 3,205 injured in road accidents across Karachi. Heavy vehicles were involved in 100 fatal crashes during the period, with trailers linked to the highest number of cases.
