KARACHI: A court has remanded a man accused of taking mobile phones from around 60 women after luring them with promises of jobs to one day in police custody.
The suspect, identified as Babar, was brought before the Judicial Magistrate in Malir. The investigating officer told the court that police arrested him the previous day and recovered several phones, but needed more time to recover the remaining devices and arrest his alleged accomplices.
The court granted the police one-day physical remand. A group of women who said they were victims gathered at the court and confronted the suspect, hitting him with slippers and slapping him.
According to the report, the incident took place on October 1, when the suspect allegedly invited the women to a farmhouse in Gadap on the pretext of offering them jobs, then fled with their mobile phones.
