Won’t Back Down in Testing Times: Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad(April 30, 2018): Former Prime Minister and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Monday announced to launch a full-throttle campaign to muster the support of people for the upcoming general elections after the holy month of Ramazan.

Speaking to a gathering of workers here, Sharif said it is probable that he might be handed down sentence in corruption cases registered against him in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict, but he was not in the least worried.

He declared that he will neither back down, nor accept defeat but stand his ground to win the battle. “If I turned back in the face of difficulties, history won’t forgive me.”

Highlighting the performance of his government, he said the PML-N government built schools, universities, and schools as well as laid a network of roads connecting rural areas with urban areas.

Sharif said his government even completed the development projects that had hit snags and had been lying incomplete for decades, including Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project.He said he along with his family members will reach out to the masses to motivate them to support his party, PML-N is united and strong, I will not back down from any situation, Nawaz Sharif said.

Nawaz Sharif said slogan “Give Respect To Vote” has become famous in the country, cannot move forward without it.

Nawaz Sharif took credit of restoring peace in Karachi and said CPEC is gift from the PML-N Government, people of Sindh appreciate our efforts, but compelled to appear before the court 4 to 5 times in a week, Sharif said.Criticizing Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif said PTI did nothing in KP, rather than fake slogans, we built roads, initiated power projects, built hospitals and other development work.

He said Clinton offered him 5 billion dollars to avoid atomic test, but he refused his offer and made country atomic nation.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that he would have taken the country to new heights, if he had not been ousted from office.

He was talking with the mediamen outside the accountability court hearing corruption cases against him and his family.

Comparing Lahore to Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta, the three-time premier claimed there’s a visible difference in the level of development among the cities.

Lamenting that he’ll be unable to inaugurate the new Islamabad airport and the motorway from Lahore to Multan, Nawaz took comfort in the fact that it was his hard work and commitment which brought the projects to light.

He added that had he been allowed to complete his tenure as prime minister, a ‘new Pakistan’ would have been made, regretting that various quarters continued to pull at the government’s legs.With regards to his corruption trial, Nawaz claimed these are artificial cases and their results will not be accepted.

“Those giving these decisions will regret their action as this is not in the country’s interest,” he asserted.
