World’s Youngest Living Queen, Jetsun Pema

Web Desk (December 12, 2017): Defying norms and stereotypes, Queen of Bhutan is the youngest queen to have been crowned so in the entire world.

Taking the throne at the age of 21, Jetsun Pema, now 27, was previously a commoner.

She got married in the royal family in 2011. However, what is more interesting is the fact that she has been a staunch supporter of various human rights schemes, such as rural economic project, fight against climate change and helping people with disabilities.

“She is a wonderful human being, intelligent. She and I share one big thing in common: a love and passion for art,” said the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, also known as the Dragon King.

While the King and Queen married each other out of love, it is reportedly said that they both undertook arts as their  area of undergrad study.

The couple was once hailed as Prince William and Princess Kate of the Himalayas.
