KARACHI: The martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS) was observed with profound respect and devotion nationwide. All mourning processions concluded peacefully after passing through their traditional routes in various cities, with meticulous security arrangements in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
In Karachi, the main Youm-e-Ali procession commenced from Nishtar Park, following its traditional route before culminating at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the police and other law enforcement agencies for their foolproof security measures.
In Lahore, the central procession began from Mubarak Haveli within Mochi Gate in the morning and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah.
To ensure safety, authorities had earlier imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi for the day, in line with the security arrangements for the Youm-e-Ali procession. Additionally, all educational institutions in the province were closed as per directions from the Sindh Education Department.
Meanwhile, Karachi Traffic Police implemented a traffic diversion plan in response to road closures for the procession’s security. As part of these measures, MA Jinnah Road was closed from Guru Mandir to Tower, and traffic was redirected towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazar.
Only vehicles with the required stickers on their windscreens were permitted to enter the procession route from Society Light Signal at Sharea Quaideen.
For those coming from Nazimabad to participate in the procession, they can proceed towards Garden Jamaat Khana from Lasebala, then continue through Soldier Bazar No. 3 and Numaish Chowrangi.
