Zaira Wasim Opts Out of The Sky Is Pink promotions After Exiting films

MUMBAI: Dangal fame Zaira Wasim decided to quit film on June 29. She went to social media to announce her decision. Another report has come up, stating that Zaira won’t be a part of promotions for her upcoming film The Sky Is Pink.

A source close to the development told an Indian entertainment website, “With the film eyeing an October 11 release, the makers were planning to kick off the promotions by August-end. It was evident from Zaira’s Facebook post on Sunday that she has decided to severe her ties from films. In keeping with her decision, she has requested the makers to excuse her from the promotional activities.”

The source added, “While she was a thorough professional throughout the shoot, she is now firm in her resolve to not be associated with movies in any capacity. The team, including director Shonali Bose, have been informed of her decision.”

Zaira took to Instagram to write a long note, explaining her reason to quit films.

The makers of The Sky is Pink supported Zaira’s decision. In a statement given to India’s national news agency , the production house said that they were lucky to have a talented actress like Zaira in the film and that they “will be supportive of her in every way”.

The statement read, “Zaira is an exceptional artiste and we are lucky to have had her play Aisha Chaudhury in our film, ‘The Sky Is Pink’.

She has been a complete professional all through the shoot of the film, which concluded earlier this month. This is a purely personal decision, which she has taken after much thought and we will be supportive of her in every way – now and always.”

Zaira made her debut in Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s Dangal. In the film, which was released in 2016, Zaira played the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat.

She garnered a lot of praises and awards for her role in the film, including National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
