ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari moved to the Supreme Court (SC) again on Friday to stop investigation into fake accounts case initiated by Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
A petition submitted by Zardari’s counsel Advocate Latif Khosa stated that his client had filed review petition in the top court. FIA had not stopped probe process despite judicial orders while JIT was tasked to assist National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by the court, the petition read.
The petition also stated that Zardari’s legal advisor Abu Bakr was summoned and interrogated by FIA officials pertaining information of specific bank accounts. It was complained that FIA was running a parallel investigation process against NAB which went against regulations besides violation of judicial orders.
