Zardari Refuses to Become Part of Nawaz’s ‘Grand Dialogue’

Lahore (August 16, 2017): Former President Asif Ali Zardari after consulting party leaders and close aides refused to meet Nawaz Sharif or extend any cooperation to PML-N in its move to amend the constitution.

President PPP-N Asif Zardari reached Lahore last night from abroad and held consultative meetings with party leaders and close aides today.

After consultations, Asif Ali Zardari deiced not to have any contact with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or PML-N.

Zardari said that PPP would not become part of grand national dialogue, an idea floated by Nawaz Sharif, to amend the constitution aimed at ensuring civilian supremacy.

He commented that if PPP did not want to have any sort of contact with Nawaz, then how come PPP would be part of the dialogue.

He said that why Nawaz did not remember grand national dialogue, repealing Article 62 and 63 and new social contract while being in power.

Zardari said that this time there was no threat to democracy rather Nawaz Sharif’s politics was facing threats.

It is to be mentioned here that during his GT Road rally, Nawaz had hinted at initiating a ‘Grand National Dialogue’ with other political parties following his ouster by the Supreme Court.
