Zardari, Shehbaz Enter in NA Session Together

Islamabad (October 29, 2018): Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari entered the National Assembly together after the session resumed on Monday.

After attending the NA session, former president Zardari left for Zardari House and gave brief responses to the questions of media personnel.

After his meeting with PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, the former president said that there has been no update on the issue of All Parties Conference.

Earlier, ruckus marred the national assembly session when PML-N leaders staged a protest for over the failure to produce PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif on time.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and other opposition parties have also staged a walkout along with the PML-N.

Speaking on the floor of the assembly, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi called on the opposition to attend the session and present their stance.He said that the government had no objection on Shehbaz Sharif attending the session, adding that the government and opposition are two sides of a coin and the opposition should show responsibility.

Earlier, the PML-N president complained that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials don’t want him to attend the session but the anti-graft watchdog had to take him to Islamabad on his insistence.

Regarding alleged revenge tactics of the NAB, he said media understands better.Sharif, who is in the National Accountability Bureau’s custody, was expected to attend the session but did not arrive on time for the 4PM scheduled start.

“They did not want to bring me,” Sharif commented to reporters about the NAB team when he arrived at Parliament.

On October 26, NA Speaker Asad Qaiser issued production orders for Shehbaz so that he can attend today’s National Assembly session.

Shehbaz also attended the last NA session on October 17 during which he said there is “an unholy alliance between NAB and the PTI”.

Addressing the Parliament, Shehbaz also revealed the questions that he was being asked by the investigators.

Delving into details regarding the Ashiana Housing Scheme, Shehbaz had said, “A NAB official told me that there are no corruption allegations against me in the housing case, but that I used my position to give the contract to former army chief General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani’s brother to please him.”

Court Extends Shahbaz’s Remand Till 7th November

An accountability court in Lahore on Monday reserved its decision on further extending former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif’s physical remand in the Ashiana Housing scheme case.

According to the details, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president was presented in court today as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought a 15-day extension in his physical remand, however Accountability court has extended Shehbaz Sharif’s physical remand till November 7 and handed him over to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to probe Ashiana Housing scandal.

The PML-N president’s physical remand ends tomorrow, however, he was presented in the accountability court today as October 30 is a holiday.

Justice Najam-ul-Hassan heard the case during which, Shehbaz Sharif said that he is being trialed in fake cases and that he has answered all the queries of NAB related to Ashiana Housing scam, Saaf Pani scandal and laptop scheme.

I have been punished for saving million of rupees of the country by honestly serving the nation, he added.

Shehbaz was brought to court amid tight security and a large number of PML-N supporters were gathered outside the premises.The PML-N workers chanted slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and even clashed with police personnel deployed outside the court. Following the clashes, police resorted to baton-charge.

Senior PML-N leaders, including Marriyum Aurangzeb, were not allowed to enter the court for the hearing.

Shehbaz was represented by his counsels Amjad Pervaiz and Azam Nazir Tarar. The PML-N president’s son, Hamza Shehbaz, was also present in court for the hearing.
