Islamabad: Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Owais Leghari on Tuesday said that we will give good news to people regarding the International Power Producers (IPPs) in the next few months while he also admitted generating the most expensive electricity in the region.

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Owais Leghari on Tuesday said that we will give good news to people regarding the International Power Producers (IPPs) in the next few months while he also admitted generating the most expensive electricity in the region.

Addressing the youth convention in Islamabad, the Federal Minister said that there is need of generation of 29,000 mw electricity .

Sardar Owais Leghari said that measures are being taken to control the energy crisis while he said that reforms are unavoidable in the field of the energy.

The Minister said that if we tolerate a two-hour load shedding then it will earn country Rs 50 billion.

He apprised that owing to dollar price fluctuation capacity payment climbed to Rs 18 while the electricity average price is Rs 44 per unit.

He said that no one was allowing us to build a power station in the international market adding China like friend helped Pakistan establishing the IPPs .

He apprised further that the IPPs issue is in the responsible hands while the government has made a task force.

We are working jointly on the IPPs, he added while he informed that in the next coming months we will give good news to masses.
