NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Shareef held a meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu on the sidelines of his visit to the United States.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhance cooperation with the Maldives in the fields of trade, tourism, education, investment and climate change.
He expressed this resolve while talking to President of the Maldives Dr Mohamed Muizzu on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, both the leaders underscored the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and the Maldives. They also agreed on the need for increased people-to-people exchanges and collaborative efforts to promote economic growth and sustainable development in their respective countries.
The two sides also recognized the shared responsibility of South Asian nations to work together for peace, prosperity, and stability of the region.
Meanwhile, in a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said he is delighted to meet President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He said that we held wide-ranging talks during our interaction on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
