Terrorism not to be allowed under the guise of protest: IG Islamabad

Islamabad: Inspector General Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi has said non-lethal weapons were used to clear D-Chowk and adjoining areas from protestors in the capital.

Addressing a news conference along with Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa today, over 200 vehicles were impounded and weapons of different sorts including pistols and Klashinkovs were recovered from the protesters.

The Inspector General said search operation is still continuing. He said terrorism will not be allowed under the guise of protest.

The Inspector General (IG) declared the PTI protest as terrorism.

The IG said that protesters had modern arms and they opened straight fire on police and Rangers.

Owing to straight fire as many as 26 personnel received bullets while 72 others personnel sustained injuries.
he also apprised that Afghan nationals were included in the PTI protesters.

They said that no Afghan national will stay in Islamabad without security clearance

Referring to the damages inflicted by the protestors, he said strict legal action will be initiated against them and their abettors. He expressed the commitment to protecting the lives and properties of the people.

In his remarks, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad said nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands and challenge the writ of state.

He said all the law enforcement agencies played their role to handle the situation in the federal capital.

He said data of Afghan nationals will be verified and only those possessing the NOCs will be allowed to live in the federal capital.
