Playwright Fatima Surayya Bajia being remembered on her 9th death anniversary

Web Desk: The 9th death anniversary of famous TV playwright and Urdu novelist Fatima Surayya Bajia is being observed today.

Born on September 1, 1930, in Karnatak, India, she migrated to Pakistan with her family soon after partition.

The veteran writer received ample recognition for her contributions in literature. Shama, Afshan, Aroosa, Ana and Tasveer are her memorable plays.

Her first long play was Mehman, she also contributed for literary programs like Auraaq, and beauty care program under the title Aaraish-e-Khaam-e-Kakal and also produced some kid shows.

She is the elder sister of renowned scriptwriter and satirist Anwar Maqsood, poet Zehra Nigah and the late TV chef Zubaida Tariq.

Fatima Surayya received multiple awards at home and abroad including Pride of Performance and Hilal-i-Imtiaz.

She died in Karachi in two thousand and sixteen on this day due to throat cancer.
