UMERKOT: Preparations for the upcoming by-elections in NA-213, located in the Umar Kot district of Sindh, are in the final stages as the election date approaches on April 17.
The election campaign officially ended at midnight last night, and the distribution of essential election materials is set to commence today.
This electoral contest is shaping up to be highly competitive, primarily between the Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate, Saba Talpur, and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate, Lal Chand Malhi, who has garnered support from the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).
The constituency features a total of 498 polling stations, with 269 classified as sensitive and 91 deemed highly sensitive, indicating the potential for heightened security measures on election day.
This by-election was necessitated by the passing of former Pakistan Peoples Party leader Nawab Yousuf Talpur.
On the other hand, to facilitate the voting process and ensure the safety of all participants, a public holiday has been declared in the UmerKot district on April 17.
