WEB DESK: Severe tremors of an earthquake were felt in the federal capital Islamabad, as well as in various cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strong tremors were reported in Peshawar, Nowshera, Lower Dir, Malakand, and its surroundings. The tremors were also felt in Mardan, Swat, Bajaur, Upper Dir, Shabqadar, Mohmand, and Chitral.
In Punjab, residents of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and neighboring areas also experienced the earthquake tremors. Additionally, tremors were felt in Gilgit, Parachinar, and adjacent regions.
According to the earthquake monitoring center, the earthquake was recorded with a magnitude of 5.9, with a depth of 94 kilometers. The epicenter was located on the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Preliminary reports received by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) indicate that tremors were felt in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and other areas of Punjab.
The administrative authorities across Punjab are engaged in checking buildings, and machinery and staff have been put on alert.
