Central Ruet-Hilal Committee to hold moon sighting meeting today for Zil-Hajj

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene today to observe the moon of Zil-Hajj, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Zil-Hajj.

The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Islamabad, with zonal committees conducting their respective meetings simultaneously across different regions.

According to data from Sparco, the likelihood of sighting the new moon today appears minimal, as the moon’s age at sunset is expected to be approximately 11 hours. Based on this assessment, the first of Zil-Hajj is anticipated to be on May 29, which suggests that Eid-ul-Adha may be observed on June 7 nationwide.

In addition, authorities in Saudi Arabia will also hold a meeting today to determine the moon of Zil-Hajj, signaling the start of the sacred month for Muslims worldwide.
