ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently undertook an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he engaged in pivotal discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the domains of security, immigration, and counter-narcotics.
During his visit, Minister Naqvi met with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The high-level meeting focused on bolstering cooperation between the two nations, with a strong emphasis on facilitating visa processes for Pakistani citizens—especially those seeking employment opportunities in the UAE.
Upon arrival at the UAE Ministry of Interior, Naqvi was received with ceremonial honors and introduced to several top Emirati officials. Both sides agreed on the need to advance collaboration in critical areas including anti-smuggling operations and modern technological tools, notably Artificial Intelligence, to confront evolving security challenges.
Minister Naqvi stressed the significance of easing visa regulations for Pakistani nationals, noting, “Facilitating Pakistani travelers and workers is a top priority. Visa leniency will bring significant benefits to our citizens.” In response, the UAE Interior Minister expressed his government’s full cooperation in improving visa accessibility for Pakistanis.
As part of his official engagements, Naqvi visited the Abu Dhabi Police’s state-of-the-art operations center, where he received a detailed overview of their advanced surveillance systems and crime deterrence strategies. Impressed by the technological infrastructure, he expressed a desire to replicate similar innovations in Pakistan to enhance national security efforts.
Key dignitaries present during the discussions included Major General Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Brigadier Engineer Hussain Ahmed, Brigadier Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, and other senior diplomatic representatives.
Concluding his visit, Minister Naqvi lauded the enduring Pakistan-UAE friendship, describing it as a “valuable national asset,” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation in areas that serve the mutual interests and welfare of both nations.
