Karachi: A high level delegation of the World Bank on Sunday visited the site office of Yellow Line BRT project and ongoing construction work on Jam Sadiq bridge
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon briefed the delegation in details on the benefits and progress of the project.
The Minister apprised that the projects is aimed at providing masses speedy and cheap travelling facility.
He informed that the projects will start from Shahra-e-Norjahan to Landhi, Korangi while he said that we wanted to operated only electric buses on the route.
He said that electric buses will reduce environmental pollution.
Breifing further on other projects of the Sindh government he said that we are bringing EV scoters for making women of the province self reliant adding that as many as 8000 women have submitted applications for the service so far.
It is not a transport but a basis of social revolution, he said.
He apprised that the work is on Karachi Circular Railway is underway adding that the work on high speed rail project between Karachi to Sukkur is also ongoing.
He further apprised that the provincial government has set up special economic zones for the promotion of investment.
The high level WB delegation urged more transports projects in Karachi while it also expressed interest in Public Private partnership model.
