Karachi: In Karachi, following similar occurrences in Punjab, a religious party has announced a call for protest. The demonstrations have led to reports of traffic congestion and partial internet service disruptions in multiple areas across the city.
In the New Karachi area, protesters gathered at the K’Nalla stop, where tensions escalated as stones were thrown at vehicles, damaging their windows. Protesters also blocked the road at 4-K Chowrangi, causing significant traffic issues and creating inconveniences for local residents.
DIG West, Irfan Ali Baloch, stated that police swiftly responded to the situation, successfully restoring order. Traffic flow around New Karachi’s Sindhi Hotel and 4-K Chowrangi has returned to normal. During the operation, five individuals were arrested for creating unrest.
To prevent further disturbances, a considerable police presence has been deployed in the area, with additional reinforcements on standby to address any potential incidents of stone-pelting or arson.
According to police officials, the overall situation across the city remains under control, and all necessary steps are being implemented to uphold law and order. Authorities have urged citizens to stay calm and avoid being influenced by misinformation or rumours.
