ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants against senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, and Zain Qureshi. These warrants pertain to a protest and vandalism case registered at the Sangjani Police Station.
The court instructed the police to apprehend the accused and present them at the next hearing, cautioning that non-compliance would result in serious legal repercussions.
In its written directive, the court ordered the appointment of a senior police officer of SP rank to oversee the arrests and ensure the leaders are produced before the court.
The case originates from allegations of a protest involving PTI members and supporters, during which public and private property was reportedly damaged. Following the incident, an FIR was lodged at the Sangjani Police Station under anti-terrorism laws.
The ATC has now instructed law enforcement to execute the warrants promptly and transparently, stressing the importance of accountability within the police force.
