SUKKUR: Sultan Shah, a notorious bandit, along with his son Hubdar Ali Shah, was shot dead on Wednesday during a police confrontation in the C-Section area of Sukkur.
Sources within law enforcement agencies stated that the duo was attempting to escape after committing a robbery in Rohri when police intercepted their vehicle. An exchange of gunfire ensued, during which Constable Fazal Bhutto was injured.Police forces returned fire, leading to the deaths of Sultan Shah and his son. A
young boy named Faizan Sheikh, who was also injured during the Rohri robbery, is reported to be in stable condition.
The Sukkur Range’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Captain (Retired) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, praised the police squad led by SSP Azhar Mughal for their successful operation. He also directed that the injured officer receive the best possible medical care and lauded the team’s bravery during the encounter.
Meanwhile, a video allegedly recorded shortly before Sultan Shah was killed has gained significant attention on social media. In the footage, Shah voiced fears about being killed in a staged police encounter and expressed concerns for his safety.
Records from law enforcement indicate that Sultan Shah was wanted in connection with 48 criminal cases, which include kidnapping, murder, theft, extortion, and narcotics trafficking across multiple districts in Sindh.The government had announced a reward of Rs2 million for his arrest, with discussions underway to increase the bounty to Rs5 million.
Sultan Shah had surrendered in 2008 in the presence of then Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza. Following his surrender, he remained involved in local politics from 2008 to 2013 and even contested the 2013 general elections from a Sukkur constituency.
