Attaullah Tarar warns that the rising population presents a significant threat

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has raised serious concerns about Pakistan’s rapidly growing population.

Speaking at the Pakistan Population Summit 2025 in Islamabad, the minister remarked that the situation had reached a critical level. The increasing population is exerting significant pressure on essential sectors such as education, healthcare, and social services.

The minister further noted that this demographic pressure is straining Pakistan’s already limited resources, making it increasingly challenging for the government to achieve sustainable development.

He underscored that the lack of public awareness regarding family planning and population management exacerbates the issue.

Attaullah Tarar stressed the importance of enhancing public understanding to address the escalating challenges arising from population growth. He cautioned that unchecked population growth would severely impact Pakistan’s development.

The minister called on all segments of society to contribute towards resolving this crisis, emphasizing that achieving stable national development hinges on maintaining a balanced population structure.

He also advocated for the establishment of a dedicated working group to formulate a comprehensive strategy aimed at tackling the challenges posed by the growing population. According to Tarar, taking timely measures is vital for ensuring sustainable growth and securing a prosperous future for Pakistan.
