LHC to hear challenges 27th constitutional amendment in tomorrow’s session

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) is scheduled to hear a series of petitions contesting the 27th Constitutional Amendment, with a significant session planned for tomorrow.

A panel of three judges, led by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, will oversee the case. The bench also includes Justice Jawad Hassan and Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed.

In anticipation of the hearing, Justices Sadaqat Ali Khan and Jawad Hassan traveled from Rawalpindi to Lahore earlier today to prepare for the proceedings.

The petitions, filed by citizen Munir Ahmed and others, demand that the amendment be declared unconstitutional. The case has named the federal government, the Punjab government, and several other parties as respondents.

Legal experts suggest that tomorrow’s hearing could be pivotal in the ongoing legal discourse surrounding the amendment’s constitutionality, potentially shaping future interpretations of the law and governance structures.

The court will begin hearing the case tomorrow, attracting attention from all sides as it evaluates the arguments against the 27th Amendment.
