KARACHI: The privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has entered its final phase.
According to sources, officials from all four consortiums held a meeting with the CEO of the national airline and other officers on Saturday.
Sources indicate that the consortium has requested daily records from the airline and the Privatization Commission. All consortiums are expected to submit their bids during the auction scheduled for December 23.
It has been reported that the consortium will be provided with details of current and retired employees, as well as information regarding domestic and international routes.
Sources also state that the responsibility for the pensions of retired employees will not fall on the consortium purchasing the airline. Additionally, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat has directed the airline to cooperate and provide necessary details to all four consortiums involved in the process.
