ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a comprehensive policy aimed at boosting halal meat exports.
On Thursday, details emerged following a high-level review meeting chaired by the prime minister concerning the country’s halal meat export policy. During the meeting, instructions were issued to formulate a detailed implementation plan within two weeks to escalate halal meat exports significantly.
The prime minister emphasized the need for a robust three-year strategy to ensure Pakistan gains a substantial share in both Muslim countries and the broader global halal meat market. He stressed that effective coordination between relevant ministries and provincial governments is critical for the success of such collective efforts.
Furthermore, he directed the concerned committee to recommend practical steps for improving production processes, cold storage facilities, and other essential elements involved in the halal meat sector. He underscored the importance of aligning livestock-based halal meat production with international standards to meet global expectations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also highlighted the necessity of taking special measures to enhance regional production capacities and underscored the role of organized centers in improving both production efficiency and nutritional value in the sector.
