Field Marshal Munir vows to bolster Pakistan-Jordan defense ties

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to deepening defense collaborations with Jordan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

This commitment was expressed during a meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi between Field Marshal Munir and Major General Yousef Ahmed A Al Huneiti, Chairman of Jordan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the military’s media arm reported.

The officials discussed a range of topics including mutual interests, regional security issues, and opportunities for expanding military and defense partnerships. Field Marshal Munir highlighted the significance of joint efforts in tackling emerging security threats.

The Jordanian military leader praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their professionalism and acknowledged their role in fostering regional peace and stability. Both leaders agreed to pursue further cooperation and strengthen military-to-military relations.

This meeting follows Jordanian King Abdullah II’s recent two-day visit to Pakistan in November, where he engaged in talks with both political and military authorities. During the visit, Pakistan’s army chief underscored the strong military bonds between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of ongoing cooperation for regional peace.

Earlier in October, COAS Munir traveled to Jordan, engaging with senior military officials and government leaders to explore avenues for enhanced bilateral defense and security collaboration. During his visit to Amman, he was received with a guard of honour at the General Headquarters and met Major General Al Huneiti, further solidifying the growing military partnership.
