Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi plan to challenge Toshakhana-II case verdict in IHC

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife, Bushra Bibi, plan to challenge the Toshakhana-II case verdicts in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.

Appeals for this purpose have been prepared and will be submitted by a legal team at the IHC the same day.

The appeals argue that the trial court’s decision was flawed, relying on the testimony of Inamullah Shah, who had previously been dismissed, rendering his statement legally inadmissible. Additionally, they claim that the court’s reliance on an approver’s testimony contradicts the law.

The petitioners further assert that the prosecution failed to produce sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Two separate appeals will be lodged by Barrister Salman Safdar, requesting the annulment of the Toshakhana-II case verdict. These appeals highlight that imposing multiple punishments for the same offense violates legal principles and question the Special Central Court’s jurisdiction over the matter.

They also challenge the legitimacy of Sohaib Abbasi’s designation as an approver in the case.

According to the appellants, the Bulgari set in question was lawfully retained by the former ruling couple in line with Toshakhana regulations. They argue that the case was initiated without due investigation and is rooted in political motives.
