Karachi: Hamza’s brothers granted four-day physical remand as main suspect’s associates in Wali case detained

KARACHI, July 10: A judicial magistrate has authorized a four-day physical detention of the two brothers of Hamza, the primary suspect in the tragic case of six-year-old Wali’s abuse and murder.

The suspects, identified as Shahzad and Imran, appeared before a lower court under tight security measures. They are believed to be relatives of Hamza, who is at the center of the investigation.

During the hearing, police requested custody to continue their inquiries, claiming that the suspects allegedly facilitated Hamza by helping him hide the victim’s body and cover up the crime. The police asserted that Shahzad and Imran may have assisted in concealing evidence linked to the case.

The court approved the police request, granting a four-day remand, and instructed the investigators to submit progress updates during the next hearing. The police are actively pursuing further evidence to clarify the suspects’ involvement.

The investigation into Wali’s heinous death remains ongoing, with authorities examining possible connections to dark web activities. Recent reports suggest that forensic teams are analyzing Hamza’s mobile devices, where videos depicting violence and torture have reportedly been recovered. Officials are exploring whether the suspect had any ties to illegal activities on the dark web, though no official confirmation has been issued.

The crime unfolded in Lea Market, where Wali was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered before his body was discarded from the third floor of a residential building. The incident has shocked Karachi and prompted calls for a transparent investigation and firm punishment for those involved.

Eyewitnesses and residents shared insights with media, revealing that Hamza appeared to have no steady employment, yet he often spent money on neighborhood children by buying snacks and cold drinks. Despite being unemployed, he owned high-end iPhones, raising questions about his sources of income. His father, a carpenter, was also scrutinized as residents questioned where the suspect’s wealth originated.

Authorities are expected to rely heavily on forensic analysis of Hamza’s mobile devices to uncover any links to the dark web or violent content that could be related to Wali’s tragic death. The case has garnered widespread attention, with the public demanding a thorough investigation and appropriate punishment for all responsible parties.
