Section 144 enforced in Murree Ahead of new year festivities

MURREE: In preparation for the New Year celebrations, the district administration of Murree has declared the enforcement of Section 144 to uphold law and order and safeguard public safety.

An official notice issued by Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi states that these restrictions will be in effect from December 31 through January 1. The order explicitly bans the open display of weapons and aerial firing during this period. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates these directives or causes any disturbance.

Furthermore, special entry rules have been implemented for New Year’s Night. Only families will be permitted to access Mall Road up to GPO Chowk. Individuals without families will be restricted to the outskirts of Murree to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety.

Murree’s District Police Chief, Dr. Raza Tanveer Sipra, issued a video message urging visitors and residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. He highlighted that these measures are designed to create a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable environment for everyone celebrating the occasion.

Officials have appealed to tourists and locals alike to adhere to the guidelines, refrain from unlawful activities, and contribute to maintaining peace in the scenic hill station during the festive period.
