LAHORE: Police have arrested Ahmed Bilal, a young man from Narang Mandi, Sheikhupura, in connection with a University of Lahore female student’s suicide attempt.
The student reportedly wanted to marry Ahmed Bilal, but her family’s disapproval caused her distress, leading to the suicide attempt. Investigators stated she made a final call to him before the incident and then deleted his contact from her phone.
The student remains unconscious in the hospital. Police confirmed she sustained serious injuries after falling from a university building, marking the second such incident there in two weeks. Last month, another student, Owais Sultan, died similarly.
On the day of the incident, the student arrived at 7:58 am, skipped her class, and had a 27-minute phone call before jumping at 8:30 am. Her family had recently replaced her malfunctioning phone, and her call records were reportedly erased before the fall.
