ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to the Chinese Ministry of Public Security’s headquarters, where he was cordially welcomed by Minister Wang Xiaohong.
During the detailed discussions, both nations explored avenues to bolster their bilateral ties, focusing on joint efforts in countering terrorism, exchanging police training programs, and coordinating on shared security concerns. An agreement was reached to reinforce institutional frameworks and improve operational collaboration.
Officials from both sides revealed that Pakistan and China will convene Joint Working Group sessions quarterly, with annual meetings planned between their interior ministers. Chinese Interior Minister Wang Xiaohong expressed his approval of Pakistan’s security measures protecting Chinese nationals and ongoing development initiatives.
The two countries committed to refining rapid-response strategies to combat terrorism and criminal activities, as well as expanding police training exchanges. They also deliberated on enhancing sister-city collaborations between Islamabad and Beijing, aiming to develop a unified plan for training and capacity-building of law enforcement and security personnel.
Naqvi briefed the Chinese delegation on Pakistan’s efforts to fortify security for Chinese citizens, describing their safety as a “topmost priority.” He emphasized the measures undertaken at various levels and announced the launch of a dedicated protection unit in Islamabad to safeguard Chinese nationals.
Furthermore, Naqvi welcomed Chinese assistance in addressing cybercrime, expressing Pakistan’s interest in collaborating with Chinese institutions to strengthen the capabilities of the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency. He also highlighted the potential of China’s AI-driven technologies in aiding Pakistan’s fight against terrorism and security threats.
“Pakistan and China share an unbreakable bond of cooperation, and no external force can divide us,” he stated confidently.
Key Chinese officials present included Vice Ministers Xu Datong and Yu Xiuhe, Cen Yuanbiao, Deputy Mayor of Beijing and Director General of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, Guo Kan, Director General of the General Office, Gao Qiu, Director General of the Counterterrorism Department, and Wang Yong, Director General of International Cooperation.
The Pakistani delegation comprised Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi to China, Muhammad Idrees, Director General of the National Police Academy, Syed Khurram Ali, Director General of the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Islamabad Chief Commissioner, and Inspector General of Police Ali Nasir Rizvi.
